That Very Troublesome Woman is a dramatic telling of the story of Mary MacKillop through the eyes of a journalist and his meeting with Sisters of St Joseph co-founder, Fr Julian Tenison Woods.
Set in 1879, the film follows journalist Stanley James' (William Upjohn) three-year quest to put together the story of Mary MacKillop, after he learns of the scandals threatening the Sisterhood.
In his search for the truth about Mary MacKillop, James comes face-to-face with Fr Woods (Neil Fitzpatrick).
In a dramatic confrontation between journalist and priest, new light is shed on the history and the work of a woman whose qualities would one day lead to the Catholic Church's official recognition of her Sainthood.
